Clean Cooking Ecosystem Atlas 2025

Clean cooking is a critical challenge in Uganda, where over 95% of households still rely on solid biomass—primarily firewood and charcoal—for their daily cooking needs. Traditional cooking methods pose severe health risks, contribute to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions, and disproportionately affect women and children. Transitioning to clean, safe, and sustainable cooking solutions is therefore central to Uganda’s goals on public health, environmental protection, gender equality, and economic development.

The Clean Cooking Ecosystem Atlas – Uganda 2025 has been developed as a comprehensive knowledge tool. It maps the clean cooking landscape, providing insights on stakeholders, technologies, policies, programs, and interventions. The Atlas aims to strengthen knowledge management, coordination, and investment in the sector by offering a structured, data-driven overview of the ecosystem.
