Uganda celebrates the International Youth Day

This year’s International Youth Day Celebrations were held on 19th September, 2025 in Masindi. The guest of Honour was H.E the President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri K. Museveni. The event, as is the norm, was organized by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. This year’s event was themed Youth Advancing Socio-Economic Transformation through Technology and Partnerships.

In his remarks, the president underscored the role of Technology as an enabler for increased productivity in key sectors such as Agriculture, Manufacturing, Health, Energy and others. H.E reiterated the aspirations of Uganda’s 10-fold growth strategy through demonstrating successful livelihood initiatives such as the agricultural 4 – acre model.

The Clean Cooking Unit demonstrated the potential to enhance the agricultural models through a circular economy, while harnessing the different clean energy alternatives including waste to biogas and waste to briquettes, among other solutions. The integration of clean energy would not only enhance livelihoods, but also reduce the demand for charcoal and firewood.
